What Is an Exercise Physiologist?
An Exercise Physiologist is an allied health professional with university training in exercise prescription for chronic conditions, including type 2 diabetes. We are trained in clinical screening, safe program design, ongoing monitoring, and lifestyle education.
Our role goes far beyond just “fitness.” As AEPs, we work within a clinical scope to support people with conditions such as:

How Much Exercise Should I Be Doing?
Guidelines for people with type 2 diabetes recommend:
- At least 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous aerobic exercise per week
- Exercise spread across at least 3 days with no more than 2 consecutive days without movement
- Strength training at least 2–3 times per week
Even more movement may be required for weight loss or managing additional chronic conditions.
