Exercise for Osteoporosis

Safe, Strength-Based Programs to Improve Bone Health and Confidence

At The Active Studio, we offer tailored exercise programs for individuals with osteoporosis or low bone density. Led by Accredited Exercise Physiologists, our sessions are evidence-based and designed to improve strength, balance, and functional movement—while reducing the risk of fractures and falls.

Whether you’re newly diagnosed, have had a recent fracture, or want to take preventative steps, we’re here to support you with safe, progressive movement.

Whilst you may have been told that its not possible to change your T-scores, this is infact a myth and we have seen first hand the incredible effect that appropriately prescribed exercise can have.

Supporting You at Any Stage of Osteoporosis

This service is suitable for people who:

Have been diagnosed with osteoporosis or osteopenia

Want to improve your bone density scores or prevent further decline

Are fearful of fractures or falls

✔ Have low or no previous exercise history

How Our Osteoporosis Program Works

Getting started is simple—and entirely focused on you. We begin with a thorough understanding of your health, goals, and current abilities so we can design a safe, effective program tailored to your needs. Every step is guided by an Accredited Exercise Physiologist to ensure your progress is steady, supported, and clinically sound.

Your program begins with a comprehensive initial assessment, where we’ll:

  • Discuss your medical and exercise history
  • Assess your current mobility, balance, and strength
  • Identify any risk factors or red flags

From there, we create a personalised exercise plan that may include:

  • Progressive resistance training to strengthen muscles and stimulate bone
  • Low-impact or impact loading activities appropriate for your needs
  • Balance and functional exercises to reduce fall risk
  • Home-based or in-studio options

All sessions are supervised by our Exercise Physiologists and tailored to your confidence, goals, and clinical status.

Everyday that I do this I’m so grateful for where I am. Last week, I had to lift something very heavy, around 20kg from the floor and walk it out to my car. I had that fear of, am I going to end up in excruciating pain from this. And I did it, and It was fine. I just feel like im getting stronger every day .

I had my 6monthly bloods and check in with my doctor and I was amazed. Besides my cholesterol, everything else was better than what it “should be ” for my age. Even my blood pressure. They told me the chemo that I had a few years ago wouldn’t allow me to get to 70 and I’m now a few months past that. You are literally keeping me alive!!
